Geothermal Plus Sunlight-Based Incubator for Sustainable Pig Production

This experiment was conducted to assess the effects of a geothermal plus sunlight-based incubator on growth performance, electricity uses and housing environment piglets. A total 20 piglets, average 7.7 ± 0.015 kg (mean std.) initial body weight, were randomly divided into two separated incubators: control (conventional incubator) heat pump (GS) with 10 replicated The experimental duration 8 weeks. Average daily weight gain, feed intake, consumption, house temperature, humidity, ammonia, carbon dioxide concentration measured weekly basis. There no significant differences in final gain (ADG), intake (ADFI) conversion ratio (FCR) between incubators. consumption GS reduced by 120.95 kWh/head saving efficacy about 64.76% that conventional incubator. cost 3.26 USD weigh lower GS-based No noted for internal temperature humidity ammonia significantly (p < 0.05) than might be healthy economic sustainable pig production.
